Be a Mentor

We are always looking for GPS team members to provide guidance, perspective, and support to students who are exploring coming out or who have recently come out.

GPS providers should be:

  • Undergraduate or graduate students at the University of Michigan
  • Out with an LGBTQ or related identity in one or more areas of their life
  • Comfortable interacting one-on-one or via email with other students about LGBTQ topics
  • Knowledgeable of community resources (not required but encouraged)

GPS Team Expectations:

  • Available to meet with mentee once matched
  • Check in with the Spectrum Center after each meeting to complete a meeting evaluation and to notify staff about topics discussed and progress made
  • Attend semesterly GPS team meetings and training sessions
  • Maintain confidentiality outside of meetings If you meet the above criteria and are able to meet the GPS team expectations, please fill out the form below!
