Reflections on MBLGTACC from David Clair

My name is David Clair;  I am a Gay Cisgender male at the age of 19.  Just this year I got the opportunity to experience MBLGTACC for the first time. Attending This Pro Equality and Social Justice Conference helped me to remember. Remember my voice and the extent of the power and potential it contains. I was allowed to wonder often, and I did. The space given definitely left a mark on my Conscious, a mark that will remain.

Upon arrival I was warped. Dragged from the bus with nothing but thrill and excitement I began to engage. Shortly after settling in I realized the feeling of home; it felt great. To know that at any moment of the day I could wander about the allotted boundaries and be secure was the most liberating feeling. While I was at MBLGTACC I attended workshops geared to expand my drive for Change. I often found myself lost within the conflict of racing thoughts. Thoughts provoked by social and political remarks all relative to the life most people would imagine. I learned that the only thing greater than knowing myself was understanding that those around me were fond of who I am, because of who I am. My time at the Conference was short but communication with the conference lives on.

In Conclusion, I do regret leaving the conference as this was the hardest part. However, the networks I created while I was at MBLGTACC reinforce the experience every day. I believe that the conference demonstrated that as we unite we stand and as our many communities divide ourselves we may fall. Lastly, I must say I am proud to have engaged at the conference as it has built bridges into my future.
