Four years ago we began the tradition of honoring the
sustained efforts of departing seniors with the Cornerstone
Award. Cornerstones are traditionally thought of as the stones
placed in the construction of a building where all other stones
gain their support. We build upon their work and we all benefit
from their presence. We know that they will continue their
activism and advocacy far beyond their time here.

It is my pleasure to give this year’s cornerstone award to Emily
Byl.
