Campus Specific Resources

  • University Health Service (UHS) is U-M’s campus health clinic and a hub for wellness resources. A number of services are free for most currently enrolled U-M Ann Arbor students (more information can be found on UHS’s Free or Fees for Students website).

    • Check out University Health Service’s LGBT and Queer Health website for information on how UHS works to provide affirming health and wellness services.

    • UHS also has a group of health care providers, called The Trans Care Team, who are specifically trained in providing affirming care to trans and non-binary patients.

  • Comprehensive Gender Services Program (CGSP) at Michigan Medicine is a multidisciplinary team that helps transgender, gender nonconforming, and non-binary adults access and obtain gender affirming medical care.

  • Wolverine Wellness offers wellness resources, events, and individual services focused on health and wellness, including programs focused on alcohol and other drugs, sexual health, and healthy eating and body image.

    • Check out their Wellness Coaching, one-on-one coaching conversations focused on your wellbeing. Common coaching topics include adjustment to U-M, academic concerns, relationships, sleep, stress/anxiety management, physical health, nutrition, sexual health, alcohol and other drug use, and more.

  • Michigan Medicine - LGBTQ Health 

Local and National Resources

  • Corktown Health Center

    • Corktown Health Center is a new medical home focused on serving the LGBTQ community in Southeastern Michigan. Corktown Health Center is located at 1726 Howar Street, Detroit. For appointments or general inquires please call 313-832-3300. 

  • Planned Parenthood

    • Planned Parenthood offers extensive sexual and reproductive health services. However, Michigan Planned Parenthood health centers cannot currently prescribe hormone replacement therapy (HRT) or PrEP/PEP. They have health centers across the U.S., including two locations in Ann Arbor. Appointments may be scheduled online or by calling 1-800-230-7526.

  • RAD Remedy

    • RAD Remedy's mission is to connect trans, gender non-conforming, intersex, and queer folks to accurate, safe, respectful, and comprehensive care in order to improve individual and community health.

  • Affirmations Health and Wellness Network

    • The Health & Wellness Network is a project of Affirmations - Metro Detroit’s LGBT community center for lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender (LGBT) people and their allies. Affirmations' Health & Wellness program area works to address LGBT health inequities by improving the health and well-being of LGBT individuals and communities through professional training and development, LGBT-affirming mental health services, community education, coalition building, and connecting LGBT people to health resources.

  • MyTransHealth

    • MyTransHealth’s mission is to connect trans and gender non-conforming people with culturally competent services. They currently have vetted provider lists for Chicago, Dallas, Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Seattle, and hope to expand to additional cities.

Health Insurance

  • Most currently enrolled students can access a number of free services at University Health Services. More information about who qualifies and the covered services can be found on UHS’s Free or Fees for Students website. All members of the University community are strongly encouraged to have health insurance.

  • There are health insurance options for students, staff, and faculty that provide coverage for gender affirming services.

Students can access full plan options on the Student Health Insurance website. Students seeking consultation and guidance on gender health insurance should contact the University Health Service’s Managed Care Office at 734-764-5182 or toll-free 866-368-0002.
