With the Spectrum Center operating virtually, we wanted to provide consistent updates regarding our programming and offerings within the Center. Below are the updates regarding the Education & Training offereings for the remainder of Winter term and moving into Spring/Summer,
Workshops- March & April workshops are in the works to be rescheduled in the spring and/or summer semester, updates soon to follow. Workshop requests will resume after spring semester.
We offer workshops for a variety of audiences coming from a variety of familiarity with LGBTQ+ content. We are happy to tailor workshop content to the specific needs of your classroom or organization based on the learning objectives of the workshop being requested.
Workshops can range from 1 to 3 hours, depending on the content and needs of the requester. During the academic year, we do receive a large number of request, so please give us at least 2-3 weeks in advance for all workshop requests.
Some of our participant learning objectives may include:
Being introduced to terminology related to LGBTQ identities
Being able to articulate the difference between sex assigned at birth, gender identity, gender expression, and attractionality
Gaining familiarity with various identity terms outside the gender binary
Being able to articulate a process of allyhood development and where they are in the process
Begin to be able to critically think about the societal construction and expectations of gender identity and gender expression
- Identifying some practical strategies for working to create an inclusive space for LGBTQ+ folks
