Henry Mochida directs the strategic communications, public relations, and marketing for The Program on Intergroup Relations (IGR), Spectrum Center (SC), and the Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs (MESA). He manages the development and implementation of strategic communications plans, oversees the production of visual media, writes and edits editorial content, administers the website and newsletters, leads social media best practices, and guides internal procedures. Henry also coordinates efforts with the Student Life Development office, working to increase donor engagement, and promoting social justice education.
Henry has a master’s degree and was a Ph.D. student in Urban Planning at the University of Hawaiʻi with a focus on media advocacy and participatory action research methodologies. Previously he worked as a communications specialist in early childhood education, associate director of digital media in higher education, and a media planner for a startup arts organization and nonprofit organizations. Outside of work, he is a published urban scholar and aspiring video artist.
