Advice to current UM students:

Get involved! The University of Michigan is huge, which means there are many unbelievable groups, clubs, and opportunities. Also, be proactive and take advantage of all of the university's resources. Eat free bagels from the Alumni Center on Wednesdays! Use the free massage chairs in the CAPS Wellness Center!

Biggest challenge you have faced in the workforce:

Ann Arbor definitely spoiled me. The biggest challenge I've faced in the workforce has been dealing with rude or intolerant people. I think this is common in any entry level job involving human interaction. On the campaign, there were many people who expressed their disagreement in hurtful ways. The important thing is to surround yourself with supportive friends and co-workers. It makes your job easier and your life more enjoyable.

Having worked on the Obama campaign in Florida, what are some political issues/areas that you have gained insight or knowledge into?:

Working in Florida, immigration policy was an important issue to many people. Obama's been a longtime advocate of comprehensive immigration reform, and I had read about the basics of his plan in his book, but on the campaign I was able to connect his policies with real people. I also became a quasi-expert on his health care policy, because of its relevance in the election. Obviously I'm rather biased. :)
