Testing for HIV and sexually transmitted infections

Get tested from the comfort of Spectrum Center, visit UHS, or find a provider beyond campus.

At Spectrum Center

Spectrum Center and Unified/Vivent partner to offer free HIV/STI testing and safer sex education and supplies to U-M students.

  • Confidential, rapid HIV and Hepatitis C testing
  • Laboratory-based Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Syphilis testing
  • Free condoms, dental dams, and lube available

Drop-in

  • Where: Spectrum Center, Michigan Union, 3rd floor, suite 3020
  • When: Mondays, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. (no arrivals after 7:30 p.m.)
    • There is no testing during university breaks, including the week of Thanksgiving.

Please remember to eat a snack or small meal—and drink some water—before coming in for your HIV/STI test. To follow up on test results, contact Unified/Vivent at 734-572-9355.

Individuals

Condoms, dental dams, and personal lubricant are available at Spectrum Center during regular business hours.

Supply grants for student organizations

Wolverine Wellness offers safer sex supply grants for student leaders and student organizations. to provide for their members in order to take care of their sexual and reproductive health. We encourage taking advantage of these free sexual health resources.

 

PrEP & PEP

PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) is approved for sexually active adults who are at ongoing high risk of HIV infection. Descovy and Truvada are common PrEP treatments in pill form. PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) is the use of medications after a single high-risk event, e.g. needlestick or unprotected sex with an HIV+ partner. It is intended to stop HIV from replicating and spreading throughout the body.
