University of Michigan students who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and/or Two Spirit are invited participate in an important initiative to improve campus experiences for people of all sexualities and genders. The Queer & Trans Task Force (QT Task Force) is leading a study across U-M’s campuses as part of the university’s DEI 2.0 program to advance equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging for everyone.
The QT Task Force is part of U-M's DEI 2.0 plan, building on the institution's commitment to a more inclusive and supportive environment. Over the years, U-M has introduced pivotal policies such as gender-inclusive housing, nondiscrimination policies, and a range of resources for LGBTQIA2S+ students, staff, and faculty. The QT Task Force’s mission is to ensure that the voices of LGBTQIA2S+ community members are central to these ongoing efforts, enabling campus leaders to identify current needs, address existing challenges, and shape future resources and policies.
Focus group participants will share their experiences, insights, and ideas about the climate at U-M around sexuality and gender. These discussions will directly inform future campus policy discussions, resources, and support programs to create a stronger, more inclusive community for LGBTQIA2S+ students and community members of all sexualities and genders across the Ann Arbor, Flint, and Dearborn campuses.
Confidential focus groups will be held in a welcoming, inclusive setting, and each session will last approximately one to one-and-a-half hours. U-M students interested in participating in this work can get started by completing a short pre-screening survey.
