Nicole Newsome (they/she) is the program specialist for student engagement and belonging at the University of Michigan's Spectrum Center. Nicole is a Black, queer, disabled emerging student affairs professional, and QTBIPOC advocacy has always been at the center of their educational and professional work. From serving as an undergraduate Miami University’s Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion, leading multiple queer student organizations, and launching a grassroots Black Lives Matter coalition in Oxford, Ohio to joining the executive board for the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals – Nicole's passion for community engagement and leadership that champions collective liberation for marginalized communities is tenfold. When not working, she loves being outside in nature, watching scary movies, reading, spending quality time with her people, and napping with her two cats, Jupiter and Charlie.
