Welcome letter

Will Sherry

November 5, 2014  |  By Will Sherry

With the coming of each October, I continue to be humbled by the honesty and bravery of students at the University of Michigan. October marks National Coming Out Month, during which we take time to celebrate the queer community in its many forms. I was not out in college, and although I do not regret that decision, I continue to be moved by students sharing so much of themselves in order to find, build upon, and affirm their many communities. I always appreciate October as it reminds me of the power and community building effects of story sharing. As I move into my fifth month as Interim Director, I continuously appreciate the opportunity to connect these humbling and moving moments to our sustained vision for the Center. I am currently focused on the integration of inclusive excellence as we spend November re-visiting our 2012, three-year Strategic Plan in order to track progress and begin our planning for the years to come. We look forward to including all members of our community, both those within, and outside of campus, in this process.
